Ghana Lacrosse launch 'Play for Your Motherland Campaign'

The sports development directorate of Ghana Lacrosse Association has today, the 20th of December 20204, launched a campaign to recruit the lacrosse players to represent Ghana at international competitions.

Both the male and female teams are in pole position to represent Ghana at the Under-20, Senior and Box lacrosse tournaments after Ghana Lacrosse became Full Members of World Lacrosse on 17th November 2024.

Two outstanding athletes from Coppin State University, Jacob Matey and Jason Bandoh played for the Senior Men's Team at this year's Wildfire Lacrosse Festival in Ghana and emerged as winners after beating teams from Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso.


Since then, young athletes and coaches of Ghanaian heritage all over the world have shown interest to help grow lacrosse in Ghana and represent their Motherland at international competitions. With the goal to complete at the Los Angeles Olympics 2028, we currently receiving entries in our player database.




Who can register to be part of the Ghana Lacrosse Global Network?

  1. Young athletes of Ghanaian descent (MALE and FEMALE) above 16 years of age

  2. Lacrosse Coaches and Instructors of any nationality qualified to run clinics and trials in their home country

  3. Parents of UNDER-15 boys and girls lacrosse players of Ghanaian descent

  4. Representatives of any recognized organization for player recruitment


Below are the World Lacrosse Sanctioned Events in the next four years.

  • 2025 U20 Men's Championship in Korea

  • 2026 Women's Championship in Japan

  • 2027 Men's Championship in Japan

  • 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA
